You're getting a quad core for the first time in a 13" MacBook Pro and out of any 13" laptop really at the size of an Ultrabook. So is the i7 in the 13".īest bang for buck is definitely the core i5. Just remember that i5 this time round is quad core. The Geekbench scores are currently 2x faster than the 2017 models. ![]() But for everyday tasks you won't notice a difference honestly. You'll just have to wait maybe an extra few seconds for the same task at that scale. The core i5 will handle perfectly fine in that case too. It's more geared towards Visual Professionals who can't afford to lose time over their video edits or push like GBs of data per day to and from their laptops via USB-C to their HDDs or camera SD cards. Like you're getting an extra 400MHz clock per core and 2MB extra CPU cache. i7 here is merely a marketing pull for more cash grab by Apple OR for Visual or other Professionals who don't want the 15" imo.
